Crossing
If I fancy myself sometimes
like Jesus on the cross
but somebody
wakes me up
saying
'Get down
we need the wood
and we need the nails.
we need help
taking the garbage out.'

Sacrament
He contemplates
the juicy plum;
the purple-ness
fully bloomed.
He turns it in his hand
and removes the leafage
and stem.
Eyes closed
upward fixed
he sinks his teeth
into it;
removing its flesh.

z-The Shark and I
We humans evolved 100,000 years ago
from just 4 amino acids
forming our DNA
but note the Shark has been here 100 million years.
And genetically,
we and Sharks are 95% the same.
So who owns this planet?

To My Bestest Readers
For my bestest readers
know that I see your hand
feel your heart
know who you are
and offer you
my best heart
and midnight picnics
and tables
pure with
both sweets and sufferings.
I know you are there
and know
I am here for you too.

Best In Retrospect
The problem was
I looked best to him
walking away
My rejection
made him love me more.
It became my tool
to hold on
to him,
because Love does
what it needs to do
to survive.
But now I'm drained
of the Love I need;
in Rejection-making
it dies.

He
I could not relate to him:
is every woman better than every man
except the one you love?
I did not love him
but could not deny
that he was more honest than me
not as insecure
but not special to me.
This felt uncomfortable.
I could not be
with him.

Reporting Nothing
The newspaper reporter said
'I write objectively
not allowing my values to intercede
in what I write about.'
My work is non-biased
and value free.
'Yes' she said
'I have read your material
and find
nothing of value in it
that is probably why it is free.'

Lights
These lights gather round
fluttering-
one brighter than the other-
but the latter glows yellow with joy;
another is a cool blue
I am illuminated in their reflections,
and cannot but smile,
for they are the children-
the earthly angels
we humans
are allowed.

Muscle Taut
I am sitting
crouched
really tensile torqued
cork-screwed
for maximum
explosion
muscle taut
I spring from my chair
arms raised high
I leap
and soar
5 feet off the ground
and land
my mouth opening
screaming at the top
of my lungs
YES
She had agreed
