Could be
She blinked those eyes at me
and fired
and I was sunk.
She smiled and I tore my heart
from my heaving chest
and gave it to her.
She breathed lightly
and I lost my oxygen.
She turned to walk away
and I could not take my eyes away;
they left with her.
Must be love.

To My General
There is in life
rare times
when in the maelstrom
character matters.
There has been in my life
rare times
when I have seen it become
the rock
which moves mountains.
In the end I guess
it is people
and the values
they possess
which determine
destinies.
Here's to you
my General

Separate Cat
I have a cat
who lounges languidly,
who paws the air
and stares at me.
I stroke his fur
whenever he tells me to
and, of course,
I buy the cat food.
Some days he darts away
when he sees me
other days
he is in my lap
insistently.
I have a cat
or does he have me?
I can't risk

Robbin Tree
The Robin begins to build her nest
in the gnarled tree;
the twigs are twisted;
the branches lack leaves;
and the nest is exposed
offering no shelter.
She puts another twig
into the tree fork;
but it falls to the ground.
She looks away west
and leaves.
Her wings
flapping
out a message:

Aiming Back
I have seen up;
I have seen down
I have been sideways
crammed into my room;
felt small
in small places;
cried dry tears
and lay face down
from embarrasments
earned and not earned;
crept into places too small for me
and feel a thousand tiny cuts a day.
Today I leave and aim my self home
where there are people who love me.

A Knot
She was my lady
not;
She was my friend
not;
I reached out to her,
I reached out to her not not
and she reached out to me
not, not late one night.
she wasn't interested in me
not, not;
My roommate and she
were seeing each other
not not,
My stomach
knots.

Walking By
I walked by and the sun disappeared
shadow-fixed
by massive ego
emanating from some where indistinct.
I walked by and Hope lay dying in the street
murdered by Random Chance.
I walked by a wheel barrel
over-flowing,
full of tears
I walked on and Desperation Came
Went
and Gone
I walked by and Vacant Eyes Bled
I need to stop
walking by.

Child Poets
She, little girl dancing
with heart-red shoes
laughing.
She smiled
a tinker-bell smile
which
cozied up to
warm your insides;
teaching you how to skip
and sand play;
to learn again how to
use a shovel and pail,
see fairies in the woodsy leaves,
magic and delight
in words and play.
Children are natural poets;

In Love Again
I stepped
away
my feet
leaving
light prints;
my hands
sweeping to my side
trailing rainbow arcs;
my eyes
dripping
gold dust;
my angel wings
flapping;
white wings flapping
gently in the breeze
spreading
wing perfume

Laundries
She beats the laundry
on the rocks before the stream.
She beats the laundry
til the linens are clean.
She lays out the laundry
in the hot sun to dry
heated by the sun
and sterilized.
She beats the dirty souls
on the rocks before the baptismal stream.
She beats the dirty souls
til the dirty souls are clean.
She lays out the dead souls
in the blazing sun
til they are sterilized.
