A Visit To The Small Town Cemetary
The tomb stones were dusty gray and evocative.
'The Coal vein gave out and left us with dust.'
'Our town was boom, bust and bust.'
'The new high-way passed us by'
'The drought killed the crops and prosperity for us.'
'Our kids went to the city abandoning us'
'The capitalists sucked us dry.'
'Nafta took everything we had left'
'The plant closed and we got unemployment'
Agribusiness bought all the land and put in condos'

I am the Pretty Girl-Chapter One
Pretty Hurts
I am the pretty one,
the one the girls hate
and the boys pant for
and I stand aloof because
there is no room for me to be
who I am.
All I get is people reacting
to how I look
and I see them whisper
'She's so stuck up.'

She Loved Me; I Loved Her Not
She was not the prettiest flower in the bouquet
but she had a perfumed heart
which shone through in a radiant smile and gentle nature;

The Death Of Me
Death sat
contemplating suicide
while speaker after speaker
opined:
The scientist intoned;
'The Cell is immortal
only personalities die;
Death cannot commit suicide! '
The Buddhist decried

citing endless cycles, renewals.
and reincarnations.
The biologist argued
that the only death that
mattered was the death of species;
'Individual biology matters least.'

The Problem of the Idea
The Philosopher:
'The Problem of the 21st century
is the problem of the Origins of the Idea.'
The Idea has driven much
of human history-
a major motivator
many taken together are
Articulators;
Ideas compose all Human Dreams.
But ask what is this Idea
and silence ensues;
ask where is it
in the human mind
and we'll get charts of its activity centers
but nothing about what it is
or where it comes from.

Einstein and Society
Much of what Einstein had to say
remains unexplained
100 years later,
in terms of impact his ideas have on society.
First, we need to comprehend
he sought
to explain everything.
We know the familiar E=mc2;
what does it really mean?
Astounding at the time
but now common place;
the idea states that energy and matter interrelate;
and matter can be changed to energy and vice versa.
What's not understood well
by many is
that matter
