Different Planets

We hail from different planets in this vast universe
Not speaking of astronomy or anything so diverse
Simply men and women trying to understand
Each other's thoughts and feelings a difficult task at hand
Women try to reason men prefer to walk away
Breakdown in communication the order of the day
So dear humans don't despair just gaze up at the stars
And remember women are from Venus men they are from Mars

European Christmas Market

Life is busy around Albert Square
In December every year
Christmas market in full swing
For shopping and a glass of beer

Stalls are cluttered one by one
Amid the crowded streets
Vendors displaying their festive wares
In order to compete

Christmas music in the background
To put one in the mood
Aroma of bratwurst sizzling on the coals
Pangs of hunger need some food

People always in a hurry
Last minute presents to buy
Gifts from all over Europe
To tempt the shoppers eye

Romance Personified

Tranquility of the cherry blossom
Beautiful lady sits pensively
Whiling away the hours
Contemplating her destiny

Lay down your weary head to slumber
May you dream per chance
Behind the shadows of reality
Of invitation for romance

Delicate as a butterfly
Adorned in purple elegance
Errant thoughts and heart a flutter
Young girl's notion of romance

Away with the fairies
Is where she longs to be
Engulfed in nature's splendour
So she may dream of thee

Saturday Night Local

They congregate at the local pub
Each and every Saturday night
Break in routine from stressful week
Creatures of habit seeking respite

Logs are burning in the grate
Flickering orange flames in dance
Firelight reflecting on the hearth
Warm and cozy creating ambience

Local men propping up the bar
Discussing football escaping wives
Drowning sorrows from mundane life
Another pint through bleary eyes

Barmaids with their cheerful smiles
Filling up the empty glass
Engaging conversation with the punters
Who freely spend their brass
