Talented Hands

Heaven is a delicate petal to nurture
Hope should not be bereft of rain and vise-versa
Should you pluck heaven from it's place
For one tender moment?
Or forever have the blood of heaven's earth running down my hands
What would you do?

Grave Stones

They stood like soldiers in a line
Tall and rugged eaten by wind and rain
Sublime
Taken from Earth and carved
Some adorned with flowers others forgotten
Made with marble or stone
weathered rotten
The volcano's warning
Will claw all into strife
And start again this endless reverie
Life.

The Ogre

The ogre has round beady eyes
Children beware do not stare
Or he'll gobble you up
quick as a flash
You must make haste and dash
The ogre is twenty feet high
When he walks with his head in the sky
He swallows all the aeroplanes that go by
The ogre is a menace
He eats up little children with names like Cyril or Dennis
CHILDREN BEWARE THE OGRE.

The Poem That Got Away

Trying to compose a poem!
But Gwen Stefani is singing
Hush hush darling in my sitting room
And my daughter likes her music
The monitor hums patiently
But again the music devours my thoughts
On top of that
My husband who has a penchant for Spanish guitar
Plays along with the song
The music drifts down from our bedroom
And now my forehead forces a frown
Am I being selfish? Having mean thoughts?
So I close my eyes to concentrate
And end up dreaming
Of hot Iberian climes.

There's a Fairy Hippy Commune I Know

Down at the bottom of the garden
Where the bluebells grow
We've got wondrously special fairies
That we ever did really know
Mummy doesn't believe us
Because they've got long hair
And she says
'Whoever heard of a fairy say what's mine is yours to share'?
I wish that she could see them
I wish that she would go
Down to the bottom of the garden
Where the hippy faries go
Last saturday they had a party
And it was really great
There was fairy wine
And mushroom crisps piled up upon a plate
The leader of the commune
Is a boy in bright coloured clothes
He talks of love and being kind
To everyone he knows
