Waking up Sunday Morning
At first light I just lay there
listening to the ringing in my ears
pain running through my bones
like rats
out on a hunting foray
so I let it go
its leaving benison for me
a breath that filled
my cluttered lungs
with fresh sweet air
and opened
all the petals of my heart
and through the flickers of my sight
the energy shone through
and I am grateful
for the daily taste of Life
that floods my mouth
my senses,
then satisfies my soul
that gives me nourishment

Unspoken language
Words drip
soft and sensual,
tones of velvet
brown like coffee,
scent of spices
on the breath
that drifts across
my cheek
and it could be
a shopping list
for all I know,
the soothing lilt
could speak to me
of laundry, taxes.
or of love
a mystery I ponder
with half-closed eyes
while I imagine romance
for a moment, passion
breathing at my ear

Dreamwriter
Watch the sinews of the hand
that shapes the word.
that wields the pen so lightly
writing down the margins
of a world
that does not yet exist
to comfort me.
No romance,
sweet like honey,
no butter on my bread
to ease it down,
just words
that fill the throat,
the mind, to paint
a picture of perfection
dark eyes, long hair
a subtle smile that
curves fine chiseled lips
with kisses
just a breath away

Love Always
Love without commas
no death dealing pauses
to romance
caesurae suspended
and held in abeyance
for deep flowing love
to have room to unfold
gentle blossom so strong
it survives to unfurl
after the storm of riotous living
and pours a new landscape
for I and I
i and i to inhabit
combining like good food
to something nutritious
feeding cells
feeding love
feeding life
u and i
lowercase

Dreams of love eternal
sit by me for a while
I’ll sing sweet nothings
close against your throat
before I rip it out
and use your blood
to tint the coming dawn
no, no, don’t run, just sit
and listen to the promise
of forever that I offer
dream of perfection
clothed in flesh and faith.
faithful, stuffed with hope
that forever takes no effort
presents no bill, costs nothing,
just a smile,
a hot dog now and then
to warm the heart,
fill the lonely places
that ache without a name for love.
sit by me for a while
