I Need The Sun
I need the sun
I need fun
No sun no fun
Did you use a gun
To kidnap the sun
My mood is in the slum
I move through the day like a bum
Slowly the grey skies boldly
Hold hostage the very source of my energy
Grey skies sapping me like kryptonite
Getting out of a bed is a fight
Cloudy days, my blight
The sun is needed to ignite
The process that fosters the explosion of spring life
Each day with no sun cuts me like a knife
But no death comes, each day with no sun just pain and strife.

What If I?
What if I were to lie
Would you stay or say goodbye
What if I were sick, would you still want to come by
What if I were to die
I want to know would you even cry?
Baby, what if I?
What if our love died
And could no longer abide
What if I cheated, would you let it slide?
If I needed you, would you be by my side?
Baby what if I?
In my mind's eye
I see clearly the falseness, our lie
Potential wasted years, the unshed tears and mirrored fears
And what if I made you mad
Did something that made you sad
Baby What If I?

I need thee...
Like the air I need to breath
The water that flows to meet the sea
I need thee
You complete me
Like the blood in my veins
And the Power of Christ's blood stains
I need thee
You complete me
Like the energy from the sun
The Cheetah's need to run
I need thee
You complete me
I have walked a thousand miles
Seen countless un-genuine smiles
I need thee
You complete me

Xmas Gift
Your words are like the desert sand
Always shifting
Dry and arid, no life grows there
Play your games, the truth incinerates like volcanic flames
But I must concede that you are right
Who am I to try to hold you tight?
Me trying to dim your lights before they shine bright
Walking the same roads
Misinterpreting each other's codes
No deposit into spiritual abodes
One moving fast the other really slow
Not quite able to find the right flow
No way to let this love seed grow
Thee is no blame
And there is no shame
Putting an end to this futile game

Judges
From the outside looking in
Maliciously seeking any perception of sin
Any strange behavior not to their liking
Ponucing on weaknesses, triumphantly striking
These are the judges of my life
I try to side step, trying to avoid the strife
Vendettas in unlikely people and places
So hard to discern all the many fake faces
And they keep coming from every which way
Trying their best to destroy my day
At a loss as to what to do or what to say
I fall to my knees with a cry and I pray
Hoping that this blight will just go away
So I can focus on the important
Bring my life's light out of dormant
I am a hermit
To be me, I need no permit

The Song
There is a song in my head.
It won't allow me to rest.
I still feel the melody playing in my breast.
The melody, the memory of your touch.
The harmony, the joy of my thighs and my lips,
As we welcomed you.
There is no music; I long for you,
Our dance and the movement of your hips.
The taste of you still lingers on the tip of my tongue.
We both sung this our beautiful song.
The senses have not forgotten you.
The song in my head, its like none I have heard.
It needs the music, that only you can play,
Gently on my back with your finger tips
Oh please give me peace.
Let us sing this song, I long for release.
There is a song in my head….

Black Beauty
Black beauty stares at me,
I am amazed to see
In her eyes: my liberty.
Her eyes are like mine, but softer,
Despite the scars she proudly bears,
All earned protecting me from fears and snares.
Born in the motherland centuries ago;
She has survived the slave master's blow.
Overcoming Ignorance and hate;
She has sidestepped bigotry's destructive fate,
Black beauty has borne fruit.
Her smile sheds light onto the darkened path,
And she communes with the Creator on my behalf.
And on really bad days, we share a laugh.
She is strongest when I am weak.
She provides the words when I can't seem to speak.
Black beauty: the best part of me.

I Want That
I see her with her man walking hand in hand
Their arms entwined, she will be wined and dined,
A kiss on the cheek, her sweet smile.
I stopped, and I stared for a while
And they walk down the street,
Passersby, impressed, then comment, oh that's so sweet.
I want that.
I seek my match, but they all go in a flash
Just not the right one
Just not the right time
But I see love walk by, time after time
And, I want that.
And I wait and I wait for my time to come.
I see couples wed half a century or more
Excitement in their eyes each time their match comes through the door
I look on with tears in my eyes
As I question if this love thing is not all Lies.
But I still want that

Your Soul Will Make You Whole
for people like me
at times too blind to see
stumbling through darkness from day to day
trying to find the creator's way
not sure if deliverance can be found in church
in the depths of my soul is where i begin the search
i believe thats where my salvation lives
there i will find the light that only the life source gives
trodding along life's dangerous path
and exposed to evil one's deadly wrath
yes, in my soul that's where my salvation lies
hidden safely behind pain-filled eyes
his servants wear a beautiful disguise
seeking lost souls and plotting their demise
my logical mind will surmise
that to survive there should be compromise
but no, never bargain with your soul
within those walls lies the keys to make you whole...

Love On Deck
Some days I am a loaded gun
It takes naught but a light touch to bring me undone
Some days the darkness within,
My friendly enemy
She smiles and she winks:
Enticing me with fiery eyes,
Contaminating my truth with her brazen lies.
Don't you think this situation stinks?
What you wannna do?
What you gonna do?
Act crazy:
Tell them where the hell to go,
What the f***ck to do.
Maybe a Fight? Rip her hair out: bash his head in
But the police will knock at my door.
Can't pay no attorney; you see I am very poor.
So I will play it cool.
What? walk away, then feel like a fool?
But who will take my baby girl to school?
What do I say to my mom + dad
