Nope Not Supposed To
The simples of kindness
Ever to express
Was a dog biscuit from the mailman’s vest
Today while on my way
My dog did spy
From his biscuit eye
This uniform of yesterday
Who would bring treats along his way
Nope....I’m not supposed to he say
No biscuits anymore along my way
It has become a no more to be
This kind gesture between the dog and me

Robert Frost
A Note to Robert Frost's
A Prayer in Spring
Pleasures from flowers
Give spring to the air
A pleasure like no other
At this time of year
Robert Frost has a way
Of taking us there
I wonder if he wrote these things
Before or after a thankful prayer
As happy as a bee
Or the darting bird over there
Each a simple reminder
Of the creators care
Captured a new each year
In the fresh spring air

Tim Horton's Trattoria
How can it be
Lasagna in the world of fast food parody
Of course its factory frozen long ago
Things are getting weird along fast food row
Try eating this on the go
Fowl cries the Colonel of long ago
With his famous finger liken jingle in tow
Is this the fate of Tim Horton’s we know
Can sailor’s share A ground soldier’s battle field and still hold the line
The Colonel of chicken fame knew this ethical line
His advertisement never did patronize
Poke fun, lead on or try to manipulize
Now along comes Timmies to shake down the free
All over a simple cup of coffee

The Jailers Door
My blood pressure went up today
When the jailer said walk this way
It wasn’t his tone of voice you see
Rather the steel door that closed
Behind me
An impromptu visit it would be
To see a brother of the Cree
Incarcerated for living mischievously
40 ounces and a stolen car
Won’t get you very far
The police in hot pursuit
Didn’t give a hoot
That Victor did not steel the car
He said the ride was all he took
Now that’s enough for the lawman’s hook
He’ll do two year for this silly charge

This is the Mall
There is a mall in your town
Were people go just to walk around
Wandering here and wandering there
Spending their money without a care
The ways of old are not found here
Save for the seniors who sit and stare
It’s a meeting place for all to be
Mothers with their children running free
And teenagers giggling, as life goes by
Not thinking of tomorrow or the reasons why
Watching children hurry by
Looking for a new toy to catch their eye
Keys jingle and gangel
Thinking of the car parked out in the mangle.
Different shoes go click and clack
Following along on this concrete track
