Sidewalk at Night

Fear is a place we go
when we don't know
fear is the man
in the shadows
behind that bush
or that memory
or that time
walking in the peace of the streetlights
down the sidewalk
waiting
for fear to jump out
grab us
and pull us deeper
into the metaphor
just close your eyes
and get lost in the metaphor
of blue skies
and fearless dreams
