Universe (Alive and Alone)
Someday we'll be one
Mrs. Ground; Mr. Sun
Someday I'll be grass
and your feet will pass
in confident, youthful strides
I'll be 'dead'
And you'll be 'alive'
and with pride you may live
may live as i once did-
A Giver; A Taker;
Destroyer; Maker...
A pile of dust
that dreamed one night
that it was Flesh and Bone
-Alive and Alone.

Buddha Said Something About Emptiness (A Poem For Halley)
Buddha said something about Emptiness
The Middle Path's the way i guess
hit the Zen Master back to pass his test
fall in love with your life - forget the rest
Silent Flower Sermons are always best
Of a 'Living Yoga', Huxley spoke
we're born in death - it's all a joke
our senses will fool us until we croak
God stuck a stick in my bicycle spokes.

Song Chorus
Life is funny; so are jokes
life's seasons come like clouds of smoke
some clouds are white, and some are black
some folks shoot dope, and some smoke crack
if life's so profound why am i so lost?
like a bottle on the ocean, tossed
and smacked around by big ol' boats
it's a miracle I've stayed afloat
thus far,
writing
on
a
napkin
in
this
bar...

From The Other Shore (Death)
A soul rose up
from a body in the night
went down the stairs
slid out the door
it's face, the cold wind
could not bite,
nor stab its opaque skin
with its windy knife
And as it rose up to meet
Earth's blue-speckled ceiling
the body lay still - dead to the core
The end of all Feeling
The end of a Life-
Then the soul waved goodbye
from the Other Shore

Your Tower Of Time
America, have you forgotten
the very sun that warms your face and your feet?
, have you forgotten
the miracle that paints your afternoon streets
a solemn orange and silent red;
do you stare at the ground instead?
look up, the sun is calling;
'I'm disappointed in you', it is softly saying
'get off your knees, stop praying'
your Tower of Time is falling.

May I Drink Your Tears?
May i eat your laughter
and drink your tears?
and then after
that may i sweetly speak
my words, the rich and the bleak,
into your ear?
brush your locks
of hair aside,
and i'd
even take my foolish pride

To Think Is Divine
When humans have made every discovery
Will we have found ourselves as well?
Or, will we stay lost in our 'Identities',
Self-absorbed and trapped in Hell?
Balanced on the brink we stand
We make fists instead of holding hands
Tyrants and cop-callers rule the land
Worship Starbucks and so many brands
Take your stand, one day at a time
To err is human, to think is divine.

Paradox Box
Existence:
Lines on a page
Ink is Ink
no matter how you look at it
So Simple - So Complex
Atoms touch atoms-
Waves of water
on sandy shores
-Atoms are atoms
no matter how you look at 'em
Its Now and Never forever more
Heisenberg; Uncertainty; Organized Chaos
and Quantum Mechanics - all gift-wrapped
in a pretty little paradox box - a para-box
To: US
From: GOD
-Some think he is a mathematician...

On Stars That Twinkle
When Mind is baked,
time Thinkles
When it rains,
the puddles Plinkle
when we cry,
eyes blink and Winkle
lose your mind - go see a Shrinkle
The beer we drink
goes Drinkle-drinkle
Addiction makes
our chains go Clinkle
Make a wish
on stars that Twinkle
wash the dishes
in the Sinkle
pocket change
goes Jing-a-linkle
All of life happens in a Blinkle

50-card Steve
There goes 3-card Mike
with all he can fight
when he left yesterday
he shoulda went right
And theres 5-card Billy
with 7-card Jack
they both get silly
smokin' that crack
And Alabama Chuck
has been down on his luck
he shoulda played Razz
instead of 7-card Stud
But they all have something in common
when they all pack up and leave-
They never had a clue
while playin' with 50-card Steve,
that he always had you
