Bells Are Ringing

I picked this card out just for you,
My sweetest love who is always true.
My Valentine's wishes now are ringing through,
It's our wedding bells, can you hear them too?
They are singing loudly, how much I love you!

(a 40 word valentine's challenge poem)

Ode To Happiness

Ode to happiness
Joy cometh in the morning.
May only peace reign.

All our hope comes from above.
Wars shall truly cease,
When that which is perfect comes.

Rejoicing always
We shall overcome sin’s grasp,
When Heaven arrives!

The Earth will sing a new song.
Every knee shall then bend down!

Mcgillicuddy

M-aybe Lucy Or Lucille Ricardo
C-ould not tell you her middle name.
G-ot to reading it was Esmeralda,
I-n her wedding guest book printed plain.
L-ost forever to all who adored her.
L-oved by everyone at least once a week.
I-n the box with knobs that stood on the floors
C-ame her humor which was such a treat.
U-ntil color film replaced black and white,
D-id we know that her hair was red?
D-on't ever believe we did not know.
Y-elling Ricky called Red from his bed.

What Women Want?

She yelled for me to come inside
And spend more time with her.
For she was then my brand new bride,
And my football pals overheard.

At first I was embarrassed.
But later I understood.
Football is only for a while.
She was my wife for good.

A woman lives within her cycles.
A man can not ever be sure,
Just where she’s at within them,
But it always makes sense to her!

But now I am retired.
The years have melted away.
She sends me now out fishing,
Or encourages me to go and play!

Class Act

When I think of the term class act,
There's no one larger than Mr. T.
From the south side of Chicago,
When the streets were awfully mean.

He works with sick children everywhere.
And he gives to others in need.
Doing it without fanfare,
Each day are many good deeds.

He gives credit to the father,
The One Who sits on the throne.
It's only in movies he's angry,
As he hasn't a selfish bone.

If kids today need a hero,
He will never turn one away.
For he's a friend to all who need one,
He treats everyone this same way.

Chocolate Or Flowers?

Ice cream, chocolate, or flowers?
I asked the girl of my dreams.
She looked at me in a moment of glee,
And asked why not all three?

Now if you would believe that sentence,
Then you don’t know women much.
For flowers and ice cream are very nice,
Without chocolate you’ll never get touched.

There is a fruit called passion fruit.
But I will swear to this.
If you don’t bring them chocolate often,
Then you will never be kissed.

So put away those daffodils,
And throw away that rose.
Arriving without Swiss Chocolate,
It’s out her door you’ll go!

Tis Me!

The tree on the left is made of bicycles.
The one next to it is red!
The one in the center is yellow
And the blue tree sits on the right end.

Unless you are standing behind them.
Then the blue tree is on the left.
Next comes the yellow then red tree,
And the bicycle tree comes next!

But if you watch from a merry go round
While it’s spinning in circles you’ll see,
Just a dizzying blur of colors,
Which one now is first, mercy me?

Who has such time that it does take
To sit and write the nonsense we read?
I bet whoever it is he’s retired,
And he looks an awful lot just like me!

Songs In The Night

Like a fog horn on the Erie
And train whistles in the night,
The echoes of these lonesome sounds
Are magnified by fog's dim light.

But in the solitude I'm sitting in,
Pondering what will be my fate,
Have I the time to change some hearts,
Or has the clock found I'm too late?

I pick a single topic
And filter it in my mind.
But it gets drowned out with others,
Like an intoxicating wine.

Even in this quietness
Is the occasional sound of birds.
My thoughts have no pecking order,
And are simply jumbled words.

Backugan Vs Frontal-Go!

McDonald’s hands out some crazy toys
Named Bakugan rolling birds.
I asked why not Frontal- Go boys,
But they heard not a single word!

Why not teach our kids how to save?
A stamp with every Happy Meal?
Or college savings bond certificate,
Or an after graduation pair of wheels!

The crap that is forced on our children,
That is supposed to occupy their minds,
When it’s time to get their homework done,
McDonald’s toys fail every single time!

If you think I make too much of a small thing,
Then thank you sir, you’ve proved my point!
What’s more important than the future
Of our children?
It’s time all parents start to lend their voice!

Thirteen Arrest Warrants!

(True Story)

Thirteen arrest warrants
Came yesterday in my mail.
Someone stole my identity,
And I almost got put in jail!

Thirteen separate envelopes,
Boy that made quite a stack.
I contacted the authorities,
Saying “Hey this ain’t me Jack! ”

You could not believe the confusion,
Between the County and the State!
Each of them spinning double speak
Saying “Boy we don’t make no mistakes.”

Someone stole my identity
Then went out to commit crimes!
I was always getting bills for him,
