Immortalized

The stench of death consumed me.
And I laughed in derision at the irony.
Whose death accounted for my immortaility?
The numbers rose up in my head,
I refused to count them.
If fate is indeed foreordained,
Then what am I here for but to interfere?
For destiny is in my hands.
