Tree Dies

Tree stands alone in his space
A nagging memory of family
That once surrounded him
A time called woods

Tree is feeling his age now
Crippled down one side
By the whip-crack shock
That came with the sustenance

Tree listens to the grass growing
The birds twitter all over him
He feels the seasons change
Frost hurts more each year

Tree is aware the end approaches
He has no way to avoid it
Creeping across the valley towards him
More tired at each one-sided battle
