The true gift
As I peer into the window of your mind,
I light the candle of hope searching for wisdom to find,
The flickering, flame of fiery torment,
becalmed, at one yet emotionally spent.
There are tears of joy and sadness in equal measure,
yet you light up the lives of others, a priceless treasure,
Who will repay the favour when you are the friend in need,
I will be here for you in spirit and body, a soulmate indeed.

Walking together as one
The songthrush calls me to the break of day,
I stir wearily from my slumber,
The dark is clinging to me desperately with a vice like grip,
eerie grey the only clue to the new dawn ahead.
Each new day is a magical, mystery tour,
ours to embrace and embody as is our want,
I feel privileged and ecstatic to be part of lifes rich pageant,
To the brave men who made this possible, I give you my heart,
I will wear my poppy with pride and reflect on the beautiful day ahead.

She
You are the sultry, setting sun,
All the colours of the rainbow after the storm,
You are the fiery, flame that warms my heart,
The subtle. Sublime smell of freshly cut grass.
You are the one who makes me laugh when I am morose,
Courageous in times of aversity,
You give me hope in times of vulnerability and faith when all seems lost.
You are the running river that flows into the ocean beyond,
The snow that glistens on the mountain top.
You are the one, you are the everything

At one with myself
The heavens are distressed this morning,
A thunderous roar erupts piercing the break of dawn,
Rain lashes incessantly against the window pane,
I burrow deeper into myself,
And wrap my proverbial blanket ever closer.
Autumn golds and browns are drowned by winters ire,
Melancholic, reflective murmurings brushed aside,
as yesterday's excesses are washed away,
Baton down the hatches and stop the clocks,
I will never succumb to winters mistress,
The fire burns bright in my heart and I embrace the day ahead.

The Nightingale
sweet solitude, silent and soulful,
The nightingale swooning to its own melancholy overtures,
a rustle of leaves, the squirell hoarding for the winter break,
The wooded glaze beyond sings to natures hauntingly beautiful tune.
Nature isn't party to the tough times man faces,
It is a gift all year round that even the poorest souls can afford,
All it asks is that we care for it like we do for our own,
The heavenly child, vulnerable, frightened and merely mortal,
Natures beauty isnt eternal, but we need to act as one to help it survive,
A morally corrupt and bankrupt society,
seeping into everything we hold dear and making it rotton,
If we all unite, we can secure the future for our blessed children.
The nightingale will sing again.....

Sweet Solitude
He used to sit on this bench,
still, silent and sad,
no one ever stopped to say hello,
Now he is gone however, natures jigsaw is missing a piece.
Butterflies fluttered overhead,
birds sang beautifull, melancholy tunes,
Squirrels flitted in and out of the trees, playing hide and seek with imaginary friends,
Not today though, they feel the loss.
The air is still today,
tearful, tarnished twigs clutch leaves like a groping beggar,
The cold draws close and darkness looms in the sky above,
The sun sensing somber sorrowful souls will not shine today.
The man who used to sit here has moved on,
Life must continue, that I know,
The eerie silence will be replaced again by laughter,
today however, natures friends remember.

A Christmas Wish
November rain shrouding the light,
Somewhere the sun will set, a crimson red,
Not here, not today,
Feeling festive, feeling silly,
Weeks away yet and not a angel in sight,
I need the sun likes a flower needs water to survive,
I need to watch the distant glow of the teary beacon as it disappears behind the rooftops,
I need to believe, I need to look forward,
Christmas, a time for fun, frolics an
d festive folly,
Is also a time to reflect on those less fortunate and those who have sadly departed,
Reflecting on the events and people that have shaped our destinies,
Gives us the reason to carry on,
Christmas is a time of hope and a time to give to those in need, we can all spare a little piece of our hearts,
The sun will set somewhere on Christmas Day, and I will embrace it in my minds eye!
The crimson hue will light the way for us all

A life fulfilled
Rain and tears pour down the window of my life
Dark, dank drudgery shrouding the light
They say where there’s life there is hope
But for me an inexorably endless tunnel awaits
I cling to hope like an alcohol clinging to a whisky bottle
Light could enter my life if only I opened the window
Fear stops me as it always stops me
Fear and loathing that I don’t deserve happiness.
I see children laughing and lovers embracing
A fairground of delights, lighting up the world
I am still in shadow reaching out for salvation
Reaching for a hand that will never come
Frost gave me a choice of roads to take
Instinct pointed me towards the path of my destiny
I felt alone, lost like a child
Until I saw the glowing, beseeching flame in the window ahead

The Richest Man
A true friendship is Golden,
It lasts for eternity, not for a fleeting moment,
It endures petty squabbles and unkind words,
it endures because it is Golden.
...A true friendship is climbing the largest mountain in the world,
It is wrapping up warm on a bitter, wintry day,
It is the warm glow of a traditional log fire,
A true friendship is Golden.
A true friendship is about trying to make things better,
providing strength in times of adversity,
and courage in times of weakness,
A true friendship is Golden.
A true friendship is turning dakness into light,
being a rock to rely on when life is cruel,
it is about being there when the going is tough,
A true friendship is Golden.
