Construction Sites

Tearing up the streets, hunting for treasures.
Day in, day out, digging deep holes,
Hoping to find gold or diamonds.
Such an effort; all in vain.
Only trumpery is there:
Broken pipes and filthy earth.
No sign of the expected wealth.
Disappointment has got to be our mankind's fate eternally.
