My Strange Land

I hold the memory of us in my hand
and drift away to a distant land
Candy trees and sherbet sand
As I hold the memory in my hand

I close my eyes and drift away
to a better happier day
A day when I could laugh away
The demons of this darker day

I drift away in a sea of dreams
where nothing is quite as it seems
Purple dragons, childhood dreams
Nothing quite as it seems

I embrace the strange new sights
flying candy Christmas lights
It's okay these child like sights
Fireworks explode in bright white light

Sitting Here Staring At My Last Friend

Sitting here staring at my last friend
We never talk, about the end
How can we talk?
Why should we talk?
The end is here between you and me.

For my last friends
in the bottom of a bottle
Down the barrel of a gun
My last friend is a friend indeed
A friend who could never run.

Your last friend is in your veins
As you stare blanky into that space
I can see it working behind your eyes
once sweet shining beautiful eyes

For your last friends
at the end of a needle
Under the screw down cap
