Oh To Be Free

We were so free
In life's great sea
Just you and me, just you and me

It was such fun
To run and to run
Together as one, always as one

For you are my lover,
Friend, mentor and guide
The one that will always
Be here deep inside
Though now life and death our spirits divide.

The brilliance of the day,
Come what may

The warmth descending from our sun
Which coddles each and everyone

The breath of life on this planet earth
Until our death, from our inconsequential birth

To hear each and every sound

I sit and look at photographs

I sit and look at photographs
And say I love you so
A thousand miles between our laughs
Yet they travel to and fro

I see you now, you’re really close
Hand in hand we walk.
Through the pleasant countryside,
Neither seems to talk.

A smile breaks through, laughs ensue
The mirth comes from our heart
It is very plain we two
Should never be apart.

So take my love to keep you warm,
Safe in the days ahead
