Terry Mar

If clouds could talk

If clouds could talk
what would they say
Would they criticize us
or wish us a good day

If clouds could talk
would they single out me, or you
For what we have done
or what we failed to do

Would they smile at one
and then frown on another
Speak softly to a lady
and deeply to her brother

Why does just watching clouds
seem to ease our fears
And do you think raindrops
could be tears

Vetrans Day

I give you my thanks
though it may seem trifle
For the time you spent
clutching your rifle

I hope you feel proud
each and every day
For you served your country
in more than one way

If someone shakes you hand
may you feel thanks in their grip
I hope you see thanks in their tear
appreciation in their quivering lip

I know these are just words
but they come from the heart
They are meant to honor a Veteran
for doing more than his or her part

Santa Claus Is Real

There are those who say
there is no Santa Claus
I beg to differ with them
think for a minute and pause

You can not touch friendship
so I guess it does not exist
And what about love
we should take it off the list

Or maybe like love and friendship
Santa Claus is how we feel inside
As we shop for that special gift
and then wrap it so to hide

Bought and wrapped
for Christmas morning we wait
Expressions of joy and amazement
we so eagerly anticipate

Am I Gettin Old

Is it gravity or age
that causes the food I eat
To gather in the middle
and sometimes hide my feet

When I take a shower
and my hair fills the drain
Is this a sign of aging
or swelling of the brain

Is it air pollution or age
that hampers my sight
It may be the water, not age
that causes bathroom trips at night

Is it laziness or age
that I cannot do as before
And when I try
which one made me sore

Gobble Gobble

I admit I'm a turkey
not a Thanksgiving Day bird
I am of the male species
yes the other turkey word

I am a pain in the neck
please put away the ax
I am full of, hmm, stuffing
I admit it, so please relax

I like to sing in the shower
but why does the dog bark
I know exactly where I am going
unless I am lost or it is dark

I know where everything is
as long as it is in my hand
And if an argument I lose
it is law of the land

A Christmas Hunt

Me and ol' Bubba
on a late December hunt
Bubba's a man of few words
but he sure can grunt

The snow was fallin
a winter moon so bright
All the stars seemed special
as they sparkled that night

It was about midnight
we couldn't believe our eyes
A herd of flyin deer
seemed to fill the skies

I shot and I shot
how Bubbas gun did fire
But those flyin deer
just went higher and higher

Gobble Gobble 2

Yes it's me the turkey
I am male, but not a bird
Oh you bit your tongue
not saying that dirty word

Male turkeys drink beer
and yes they strut around
Females are so attracted
to their special sound

Male turkeys love football
and the females pray
Their words won't slur
their lips won't spray

The female is cooking
such a special spread
The turkey is yelling
win or be dead

Gobble Gobble 4

This is a special time
we celebrate each year
Honey, something in your eye
or could that be a tear

The past is the past
this year I'll behave
Are you disgusted
or starting the wave

I know in the past
I have let you down
You told me last year
I played a naked clown

I may not remember
all the things I've done
But you know of Turkeys
all call me number one

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is one Holiday
where your taste buds get the gift
There is lots of cooking
the smell of pie is adrift

There will be turkey and dressing,
cranberries and other side dishes you adore
Dinner rolls will top your plate
And in pain, you go back for more

Some will try to save room
for that special pumpkin pie
And have a slice, room or not
with each bite just say, my oh my

Most will loosen their belt
or maybe undo a button or snap
Then head for the couch
and a Thanksgiving Day nap

Gobble Gobble 3

Yep, it's THANKSGIVING
and I'm the bird of choice
Something stuck in your throat
or did you lose your voice

This is a special day
for male birds of all kind
Are you reaching for somethin
or have you gone blind

Yep, football on TV
beer being cuddled by ice
You in the kitchen
the aroma is so nice

Now you do remember
the guys will be here soon
They won't make a mess
look at the clock, nearly noon
