Lackadaisical
A day with gray clouds
Dampens enthusiasm
Thoughts of fun fizzle

Who’s at the Controls?
When life rambles like a stray train
Do you continue travel and complain
Or do you decide what must be done
Become the engineer…have some fun

Sally the Acrobat
Sally was an acrobat from London
One day, her shoelaces came undone
Her feats were commendable
She was extremely bendable
She became a pretzel when she tried to run

In Toxic Revelation
we…weirdly…direly
entertain in vain over the terrain
celebrating…debating…liberating
accosting… exhausting…loss of sanity
blush with a brush…rush to flush
agonize, tranquilize…eulogize

Break Away
Disaster causes action
Bringing horrendous distractions
Swelling and submerging
Contentment…dispersing and diverging
Fleeing from despair
Seeking help from anywhere
Looking for a way
To emerge…can’t stay

Humorless
Humor can be offensive and cruel
when it is filled with callus ridicule
Lacking concern…commanding a chuckle
Whacking like a knotted fist of knuckles
Inducing a rush of embarrassing blush
An avalanche of falling rocks that crush
If wit took a test declaring accountability
Its credentials would include responsibility

Lonely Memories
Anniversaries mark the passing of years
Many thoughts are happy… some are sad
Today is the anniversary of your dying…
Certain feelings remind of what we once had
I am starting to lose count of the years…
although the tides of time do not fade
My smile is reflected in your sky-blue eyes
as surfacing tears begin to slowly cascade…

Let's Be Serious
Let's be serious for a moment
This time of concentration is potent
If you waver and begin to giggle
All intent will surely fizzle
What disaster will descend upon us all
Surely the sky above shall fall
With grinning and laughter jiggling
Troubled thoughts could go swimming
Set free from the grind… less grumpy
The road ahead could be less bumpy
For just a moment… take a smile break
See what a relieving difference it makes

Hot Chocolate
As a child I loved
Hot chocolate
Since then I had
Almost forgot
Growing into a
savvy adult
Coffee, wine, and
Beer was the result
The selections came with
stimulation and intoxication
But now, I have rediscovered
a wonderful inspiration
In the cold of winter…
Hot chocolate is my brew
It is satisfyingly sweet
and warms me through

Fading Roses
Images captured on film
Saved and frozen in time
Face and frame…
Subject to change
Make of it what you will
The many phases pass
Under the light of the moon
A final pose is stilled in June
Scrutinized under a microscope
Exposed for all to see
Shadowed by troubled empathy
As tears sting with sympathy
Farewell…to images of vibrancy
Reminders of potency
The shutter opens and closes
Capturing an array of fading roses
