A Little Too Comfortable

A little too comfortable
Chair’s too soft
Life’s too quiet
Sleep comes too easy

I’m worthless for any sacred use
That is demanded of those less fortunate
An all too truthful and ever present irony
I sought freedom from petty demands
Now I own petty
Like a man owns a beast
Caged and ready
Wondering what to feed it

It’s none too sweet
To find it out now -
Somewhat late in life
There is no satisfaction
In living satisfied
