Angels Talk

While angels wandered where we were
One angel called another
“what great love dwelt here” “one as fair
I’ve encountered no other”
“O! what grief I have to bear
what sadness I’ve to endure”
Said the angel of despair
“I detest hope, how hence one pure”
The hope that we leave where we tread
The love that was meant to stay
The hope that finds life in what’s dead
And where grief can find to way.
