zz Vapid Versus Viper
If “Vapid” thou call me
Then “Vapid” let me be
Better to be ‘Vapid’
Than a “Viper” like thee

It Matters Not to the Red Wheelbarrow
The red wheelbarrow doesn’t care
that it is rusty from rain
The chickens, however,
hate the taste
of the rust
So much
depends
on their eggs

God is Well
God is well and good
His love will never fail
He does just as He should
Until man attempts to prevail
Placing conditions upon Him
To suit their every little whim

No Defense
There is
no protection
now the wind
may hurry through bare
branch, no longer
deflected by futile defences
every leaf has defected
each one seeking refuge
somewhere

Leave Shoes Outside Please
build me a poem like a Japanese house
stark black words set against
crisp white paper wall
elaborate phrases eliminate
rhetorical excess dismiss
shoes left outside
clear minded
direct
pure

What eyes

upon the shelf
picked it up?
What heart
fondled the bow
cherished the thought
embraced the gift?
What lives
put it to use
poured the wine
savored the moment?

Everybody Must Get Stoned?
Dylan said it (wrote it, sang it)
“Everybody must get stoned”
Yes
alright
I find there is
no doubt about
how it happens with
a degree of regularity
Yet I do not readily see
how it substantially benefits me
to run out to the nearest quarry
just to gather ammunition
that would be better
left to gather
moss

Suffer the Children
Matthew 18: 3
“Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children,
you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Maybe it’s just me, but I never took that to literally mean
childish behavior was to something to be encouraged
or that by petty bickering we might beat
the quickest path to heaven
Love is everything

We Is Us
We two
Each one too long a me
Met too late ever to
Think of being three
No loss
No less the tenderness
Of two
Will amply do for
We
He
Me
Now
We is us
If ever
A feather
Had the power
To knock any
